From Festive Folklore to Festive Food Thoughts
via the Launch of a New Project, a Little Light in the Darkness & Sharing Joy
Dearest Gentle Listener,
My apologies for not writing in a while, did you think that I had forgotten you? I have been creating something lovely and festive which I thought would take just a little time. Of course, I got too interested and it has taken far too long but I am now ready to unveil it to you!
It's a Folklore, Food and Feasting Advent Calendar to take us up to Christmas. It is loosely linked to the folklore and food facts that I will be sending out via social media but enriched with added extras like vintage folklore related footage and festive short stories. I will be sharing with my Social Media followers from mid morning tomorrow too but I thought that you deserve a special preview.
I’m aware that not everyone follows me on social media so I will also be sharing those festive folklore food facts here too with weekly letters on a Friday.
I nearly didn’t share this because the world is in such a difficult place right now but I thought some lights in the darkness in the form of fthings we all share like folklore, food and story probably couldn’t hurt. Not all of us celebrate Christmas, some have other midwinter festivals, some none at all, some celebrate Christmas in a purely secular fashion in addition to their own religious celebration, but I hope this is something we can all enjoy nonetheless.
I love this time of year, tiny lights, all my favourite food combinations: spiced and sweet/savoury. I love talking about the weird and wonderful folklore and there are so many winter tales that we can hear around our virtual spaces. I’d love to have your comments about any of the above so please feel free.
I will be back next week with a festive food folklore update, an amazing mincemeat recipe and almost certainly some more food and festive related thoughts. Sadly, I must now bring this letter to a close due to the siren call of my bed and a possible good night’s sleep . Please don’t hesitate however to get in touch via the comments or via any of my social media profiles/my website . If you have enjoyed this and would like to read further such nonsense and have not yet subscribed, please don’t hesitate to subscribe for free at the button below. You’d be very welcome and it would be a joy to write to you.
Oh how lovely!
