From Fairy Food to a Feast for the Gods
Via Folktales, 1,001 Nights, Bedouin Hospitality, Epic & Urban Fantasy, Norse Eddas & Homeric Poetry
Gentle Reader,
My apologies for neglecting you this week without notice but I have been preparing an exciting talk which will be live on Zoom this Saturday evening at 8pm.
I wanted to stretch far enough to write to you too but sadly I was unable to manage that with any guarantee of making sense.
If you are feeling generous enough with your time to come to the talk I neglected you for, the free sign up link can be found here.
A little information to tempt you to join the gathering:
Food & Obligation - The Consequences of Giving & Receiving Food in Folklore, Folktales, Fiction & Fact
The talk examines the consequences of giving and receiving food via a journey which: explores what food means to the fae both in their worlds and ours through the medium of folktales; considers the shared themes in Tales from the 1,001 Nights and Bedouin hospitality traditions; examines the sharing of food in both Epic & Urban fantasy; learns life wisdom taken from the Poetic Eddas of the Ancient Norse; discovers the real reason for the Trojan War and finally, delivers a cautionary tale of why you should always treat strangers like Gods.
You would be very welcome, and I would love to see you there.
That’s all Gentle Reader, until next week, when I hope to return to normal programming.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in the meantime via the comments or via any of my social media profiles/my website . If you have enjoyed this and would like to read further such nonsense, please don’t hesitate to subscribe for free at the button below. You’d be very welcome and it would be a joy to write to you.
